Pharmacist Support ACTNow is Back!

Pharmacist Support is a charity dedicated to championing the wellbeing of those studying and working in pharmacy. They want to encourage pharmacy organisations, teams and individuals to take steps to understand and prioritise mental health and wellbeing.

This year’s campaign runs from 18th October – 8th November 2024, and this year focuses on supporting culture change within the profession with weekly themes on workplace culture, loneliness and physical health.

ACTNow encourages you to make time for wellbeing, consider others’ needs and take action. To benefit from all of this, you’ll need to sign up to the ACTNow campaign.

Help Inform Review of Sector Costs

Community pharmacy owners are invited to share data to inform an important fiscal review of the sector.

With the sector struggling to cope under intolerable financial pressure, NHS England’s independent economic review offers an opportunity to demonstrate exactly what your pharmacy businesses are going through and Community Pharmacy England is supporting the call for pharmacy owners to get involved.

Frontier Economics, who are undertaking the review, estimate it will take around 15-20 minutes per pharmacy to complete, and any data you share will be anonymised. If you decide to take part, please consider your responses very carefully to make sure that you are providing full details of all of the costs involved in running your pharmacy.

The university are currently recruiting community pharmacy staff to participate in an interview. Interviews will last between 30-45 minutes, they are online via MS Teams and can be completed on the evenings/some weekends if needed. An online shopping voucher will be provided to say thank you for participants' time and contributions.

RPS and RCGP Repeat Prescribing Toolkit

A practical toolkit is now available to help improve the consistency, safety and efficiency of repeat prescribing systems in England. The Repeat Prescribing Toolkit, from the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) and the Royal College of GPs (RCGP), was commissioned by NHS England following the National Overprescribing Review recommendations.

The toolkit provides a framework that enables GP Practices and Primary Care Networks, working in collaboration with community pharmacies and patients, to streamline workloads, improve patient safety and care, address potential oversupply and reduce medicines waste.
