National Pharmacy Technician Day 15th October 2024

We talked last week about the Community Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship Programme, and now it's time to recognise the amazing work technicians do.

Each year the pharmacy community takes a day to celebrate the pharmacy technician, and this year the date is the 15th October. We encourage everyone to find ways to appreciate the important work technicians do on that day!

Latest Free Online Training from Virtual Outcomes

Equality Act and Multi-Compartmental Compliance Aids Myths and facts

Do you understand what your responsibility is under the Equality Act?
Do you know that one outcome of an equality assessment could be that there is no suitable reasonable adjustment?
Do you know that there is NO evidence that MCAs are safer and improve compliance?

This course will support pharmacies in understanding the Equality Act and what it means in relation to compliance aids (MCAs). It looks at suitable alternatives and walks pharmacies through how to provide a reasonable adjustment if a patient is covered by the Equality Act thereby supporting pharmacies in pushing back on requests for MCAs.

Important Information for Ordering Biosimilar Insulin

Please be aware of the following:

NICE NG17 and NG28 recommend the use of biosimilar insulins for the treatment of diabetes. Biosimilar insulins offer the same clinical effectiveness and safety as their reference products.

In line with NICE, the Devon formulary has been updated to include Trurapi® (insulin aspart) and Admelog® (insulin lispro) as first line options for prescribing.

Key information for pharmacies

If the product appears as a greyed-out line on your online account, please ensure that your Sanofi 'Direct to Pharmacy' account is activated with either AAH, Phoenix, or both.
