Community Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship Programme 2026

Applications for the Community Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship Programme 2026 will open between 27 April – 18 May.

The programme supports pre-registration trainee pharmacy technicians to be employed and complete their full 24-month apprenticeship training within a community pharmacy setting. Upon completion of training and registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council, pharmacy technicians will be able to support community pharmacy to utilise the expertise and knowledge of registered professionals as part of community pharmacy services and the wider healthcare reform.

If not already attended, pharmacy contractors can join a national stakeholder engagement webinar to find out more, taking place at 8 - 8.30pm on 23 April.  A number of events are also being run regionally; contractors should contact their regional teams for more information.

Pharmacy owners with more than one premises: Do you know your NHS POC code?

The NHS Parent Organisation Code (POC) helps ensure NHS records about your pharmacy business are accurate and consistent. Pharmacy owners with multiple premises are encouraged to verify that all sites are correctly linked to their POC to support reliable reporting to the NHS.

CPE has produced a short article explaining what the POC is, why it’s important, and how to check your details.

Positive News Stories

A message from Amy Griffiths, Community Pharmacy PCN Engagement Lead, NHS Devon ICB

A huge thank you to our community pharmacies, Community Pharmacy Devon, and the Comms team for all their efforts in exceeding our ambition to increase clinical service consultations by 40%. Pharmacies delivered 231,123 consultations in 2025/26, achieving a 47% increase on 2024/25.
Contraception services saw the biggest growth, with a remarkable 154% increase, followed by clinical pathway consultations at 25%. We recognise that previous success in hypertension case‑finding means sustaining further growth will continue to be a challenge, but we have every confidence in the capability and commitment of our pharmacy teams.

If you have a positive news story to share with us please send it to admin@cpdevon.org.uk and it will be featured in an upcoming edition of the review. If featured, you will also win a surprise gift for you and your team up to the value of £25!
