Community Pharmacy Assurance Framework (CPAF) Screening Questionnaire

Community pharmacy contractors should soon receive confirmation from NHSBSA that the CPAF screening questionnaire will go live on 1 July 2026 and will be available for completion until midnight on 31 July.

Users of the NHSBSA’s Manage Your Service (MYS) portal will be able to complete this year’s CPAF by logging in. The very small number of contractors who do not have a sign-in for MYS will be able to complete the questionnaire online and will receive email details on how to do this. Completion of the screening questionnaire is compulsory, and the results of the questionnaire will form the basis of which contractors will be asked to complete the full CPAF survey and may be visited later.

C0VID-19 vaccination programme for autumn/winter 2026

Following Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) advice, and the Government announcement in March, NHS England can confirm that the autumn/winter 2026 C0VID-19 vaccination programme will run from 1 October 2026 to 31 January 2027.

The programme will run alongside the seasonal flu programme, and co-administration should be offered where possible.

Eligible cohorts are the same as last year:

adults aged 75 years and over;
residents in a care home for older adults; and
individuals aged six months and over who are immunosuppressed (as defined in the ‘immunosuppression’ sections of tables three or four in the C0VID-19 chapter of the green book)

Further operational guidance will be published in due course.

Invitation to Join the NHS Futures Workspace for the Pharmacist Enhanced Practice Pathway Pilot (PEPP) 2026/27

What is the pilot pathway?

From the Summer 2026, NHS England will pilot a new education and training pathway, the Pharmacist Enhanced Practice Pathway (PEPP), for newly qualified Early Career Pharmacist prescribers in their first year of post-registration practice.

Your engagement with the pilot development will enable us to shape and develop the Pharmacist Enhanced Practice Pathway (PEPP).

What is happening now?

You can now join the NHS Futures Early Career Pharmacist Workspace which includes Pharmacist Enhanced Practice Pathway (PEPP) pilot updates and information.

Information about the Pharmacist Enhanced Practice Pathway pilot on our Futures Early Career Pharmacist Workspace includes:

· A narrated slide deck for employers and supervisors

· Draft Terms of Participation for employers, including educational supervision standards

· Draft Learning Agreement

· Resources to support the upskilling of supervisors.

What happens next?

Further information and updates will be posted on the NHS Futures Workspace including how to participate when the application window opens. We welcome feedback on the pilot pathway in development, and a feedback form has been included in the NHS Futures Pharmacist Enhanced Practice Pathway pilot workspace.

Action Needed: Register for RAVS Before September 2026

Community pharmacies in England are being urged to register for the Record a Vaccination Service (RAVS) ahead of a major change coming into effect on 1 September 2026.

From that date, all NHS flu and C0VID-19 vaccinations must be recorded in RAVS, with payments processed automatically by the NHS Business Services Authority through MYS. To avoid payment delays, pharmacies should nominate a Lead Administrator now and ensure appropriate user access is in place.

Pharmacies already recording all NHS vaccinations in RAVS do not need to take further action. Registration is open now, with support and onboarding available for both independent pharmacies and larger chains.
